SEO

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization.

Ignoring the importance this word carries is catastrophic for your hope of owning an online site that boosts conversions. 'Conversion' simply means your website was discovered and your ultimate online goal achieved... ex., purchase made, donation given, opt-in for more information, etc.

THE REST OF THE SEO STORY

Long ago, when SEO had just begun its ever-changing journey, some widely-used methods all but guaranteed good placement on a SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

Dear Internet friend, those methods DON'T work anymore, and when you hear an "expert" say, 'sure they still work', trust me when I hammer this point home...
ONLY PROPER CONTENT AND EASY NAVIGATION MAKE YOUR SITE A CANDIDATE FOR THE TOP 10!

Right off, let's do away with 2 commonly held and widely used SEO optimization and conversion rate methods:

Myth #1

"Stuffing" your website with keywords and keyword phrases guarantees a high ranking."

Google debunks:

"Provide high-quality content on your pages, especially your home page. This is the single most important thing to do. If your pages contain useful information, their content will attract many visitors and entice webmasters to link to your site. In creating a helpful, information-rich site, write pages that clearly and accurately describe your topic."

Think about it.
Would you read a web page containing this content?

"Our shoes are comfortable. When you need shoes, come to our shoe store. Other shoe stores don't carry quality shoes.
We have black shoes, red shoes, brown shoes, shoes that shine, shoes that impress. When you need shoes, don't buy your shoes from any other shoe store."

You can see the misguided thinking in this "SEO copy".

Search engine spiders will rank this website very low, but even if you found this site, would you read this copy?

I don't think so.

Myth #2

"SEO optimization is only about coding tips and tricks"

WRONG!!!

Only three items determine top Google SEO:

  1. Site architecture (easy to navigate)
  2. High quality links
  3. Web content quality

82% of every online transaction begins with a keyword search
This statistic may be a bit obvious, and sadly, MOST copywriters do not research keywords and keyword phrases (keyphrases).

Their laziness is costing you bigtime money!

Use the latest software and tools available to find every keyword and keyword phrase a looker would enter to find your business. Then write conversational,
information-packed SEO content... weaving your exhaustive keyword and keyphrase findings within your site content.

How does excellent SEO content help you?

  • The search engines place your site in a high position (optimization).
  • If your site content is attractive, contains a relatively high number of quality links and is easy to navigate, your optimization and your conversion rates will skyrocket.
  • The phrase, "conversion rate" means you are getting positive responses and action on your website. Simply put, a high conversion rate means your site is turning visitors into buyers!

Poll Answer

The correct answer is:

B; False... in some cases, this will work against you.

I'm delighted you enjoyed the hub.

I've always said, "writing good SEO content is mostly science and mostly art".

Knowing the basics, then APPLYING them puts you miles ahead other beginners writing what they feel is great copy-in reality, it's awful; and there's a million of them in cyberspace doing just that. Good luck with your venture!
